VAT registration can either be Voluntary of Compulsory.

 

A company is required (COMPULSORY REGISTRATION), to register for VAT if its annual turnover/ supplies will exceed R1 million Rands.

 

VOLUNTARILY REGISTRATION: Any business whose turnover is likely to be more than R 50,000 but less than R 1 million per annum can register for VAT.
